Temperatures soared on Saturday 2nd June as over 450 runners, including a team from CPR, took part in the Vale of Leven 10k and Fun Run. This was the first year CPR had sponsored the event after previous sponsor Polaroid ended two years ago following thirty year of support. The event is now hosted by West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust.
Friends and family gathered in Moss O'Balloch Park to cheer on the runners as temperatures hit the mid 20's in an unexpected spell of glorious weather. This is the first year CPR have sponsored the event and they brought along Beat The Goalie, supplied by Renton Craigandro Youth Football Club, and entered their own team.
In a mini competition MD William Black had put up a £50 incentive to the person who bet him in the fastest time. The winner, Danni Gonzalez, completed the route in 57 minutes. Steven Black, Director was the fastest member of the team to complete the race at 52 minutes.
The 10k followed a a stunning route through Balloch, Alexandria and Jamestown. Lachie Stewart, an athletics legend from Bonhill, who won gold in the 10,000 at the 1970 Commonwealth Games started the race. Congratulations to all the runners and hopefully next years's event will be even bigger and better for the community.
